Western Union Keeping An Eye On Crypto, Continues To Work With XRP
Ripple’s XRP had a spectacular run lately, as far as the onboarding of partners has been concerned.
One entity, the famous global payments company Western Union, which last year tested some efforts with Ripple’s technology but drew uncertain conclusions, is now preparing to properly enter the crypto space – and Ripple and XRP will be an important part of the process.
One thing to make a note of is the fact that the emerging technology could greatly benefit established institutions, and serving customers in the most efficient way possible and not being left behind is high on Western Union’s priority list,.
As for Ripple and XRP, Shea comments on learning about the possibilities of blockchain through the use of Ripple,.
“As some examples, we’re piloting some settlement tests with Ripple for certain corridors.”
To complement their assessment of cryptocurrency and Distributed Ledger Technologies, Western Union has also invested in Digital Currency Group.
Last year, Western Union tested the xRapid product, with the company saying that it was not beneficial enough yet for implementation.
