Charles Hoskinson Defends Cardano’s Peer Review Process
CEO Charles Hoskinson today responded to criticisms of Cardano’s peer review-based approach to development.
He justified peer-review, outlining that the process added months, not years to the development timeline, and could potentially save time spent fixing issues in the future.
The reddit threads he was responding to had emerged following the announcement that timescales were going to be removed from the project’s roadmap.
Some members of the community have grown frustrated with the perceived slow progress. Issues such as the Ledger hardware wallet integration have been pushed back by months, despite repeated assurances from the team.
Concerns have also been voiced regarding the project’s Shelley upgrade, which was optimistically scheduled for Q1 2019. The upgrade was described as only 20% complete on the roadmap, but this progress bar is no longer displayed by the team.

CN TL;DR editor’s take: Frustration at development delays isn’t unique to the Cardano community, Ethereum fans have also expressed dismay at the push back of the Constantinople upgrade. It’s important to bear in mind that development takes considerable time, and projects that rush will likely hit serious issues down the road.
